Investment round-up, with a list of studios that got funded in the Sept last and Oct 1st week:

  1. No Time To Relax dev Porcelain Fortress raises $3M
  2. Darkbright raises $6M to build life-sim RPG Smolbound
  3. Future Trash raises $5M to build its IP within Fortnite’s platform
  4. Remedy enters into €15 million loan agreement with Tencent
  5. Nitro Games expands Warframe mobile partnership with €5 million deal
  6. Behaviour Interactive acquires Darkest Dungeon dev Red Hook Studios
  7. EdVentures invests in Egyptian education and interactive games startup Saikoro
  8. Indian game streaming startup Loco sells majority stake to Redwood at $65M
  9. Distance Technologies raises $11.2M for glasses-free mixed reality for enterprises
  10. Vivid Games secures $1.36 million strategic investor deal to grow Real Boxing brand
  11. French publisher RIVRS raises €4m to “professionalise and industrialise” user-generated content (UGC)
  12. New development studio The Three Thousands has opened in Melbourne, led by EA veterans Joseph Donoghue, Nikhil Kurian, and Benjamin Dawe
  13. Finnish developer Future Run secures second round of investment led by Supercell. The funds will go towards the continued development of the studio’s cross-platform title Riot Ball
  14. The developers behind Awesomenauts have formed a new studio Rangatang and are reviving the unfinished game — cartoon brawler Nubs — they had been working on at their previous company Ronimo

Oct 2nd week:

  1. Third Dimension raises $6.9m towards generative AI 3D world builder
  2. Former Bethesda, BioWare and Naughty Dog staff found Near Studios
  3. Clout Kitchen raises $4.45m towards League of Legends AI “buddies”
  4. Another group of ex-Disco Elysium developers found Dark Math Games
  5. UAE-based Web3 gaming startup PiP World lands $10 million in seed funding
  6. Krafton invests in Mario + Rabbids and Red Dead Redemption veterans at Day 4 Night
  7. Former Blizzard boss’ new studio (Dreamhaven) reveals debut tabletop-inspired game Sunderfolk
  8. Dragonz Lab has raised $9 million in funding through a strategic equity investment from Syndicate Capital.
  9. Queensland’s digital games sector Screen Queensland has awarded $1.3 million to nine indie studios as part of its latest Games Grants funding round.

Oct 3rd week:

  1. Keywords acquires Halo co-developer Certain Affinity
  2. Disco Elysium vets found two more studios — Longdue
  3. Live Aware Labs has raised $4.8 million in a seed funding round
  4. Magic Leap founder is back with a $20M funding round for SynthBee
  5. UMX Studio secures $4.5 million investment from Jetapult to expand the portfolio
  6. Windwalk raises $4.5m in early seed funding to launch community growth tool, Harbor
  7. Loot Labs raises $6 million in Bitkraft-led seed round toward digital collectibles platform
  8. Krafton leads investment round in India studio Deftouch to scale King and develop new games
  9. Azra Games raises major $42.7 million in Series A to create a mobile RPG for Western audiences
  10. Node.vc has raised $77.3 million, or €71 million, for a new fund that is backed by 70 Nordic entrepreneurs.
  11. Outersloth secures more funding as it teams up with Slay the Spire’s Casey Yano and another anonymous “indie friend” to review indie pitches
