Business of Games: Voodoo’s BLOCK magic 🪄

Voodoo announced that it’s working on a blockchain ecosystem. A quick peek at what it has done for the hypercasual games and what it can bring on board to web3 games.

  1. As a hyper casual game publisher, they lead the studios/indies to develop games based on KPI/metrics
  2. What’s in the roadmap for web3: helping devs build and publish games on ETH blockchain, release VOOD (their cryptocurrency), and creating a marketplace for players

What is the expectation:

  1. Get the web3 game to the mainstream, get over this tedious process of creating an account, and have a wallet and blockchain….. you tend to lose people in this flow of onboarding. Expecting them to simplify it and bring it to the mass market
  2. a marketplace with support to asset carryforward in many games under one hood, one blockchain ecosystem
  3. KPI-driven release phases where you get to understand your community preference
  4. Web3 release plan to follow the process of the hypercasual game, build prototypes and test with the community for retention rate checks, game session checks, and kill the prototypes before it gets to the mainstream. Where the devs have to iterate, kill and build games to woo the community
  5. Adjacent players will copycat their tactics, whereas more hypercasual publishers do imitate what they are doing

My web3 game devs list to watch out for: 1. Mighty Bear Games, 2. Square Enix and 3. Voodoo

Ping me if I have missed any!
