Zynga’s search for the spotlight continues, leaving us to wonder “Where is the next big game?”

The anticipation is palpable as the company turns to a well-known IP for its upcoming title — Game of Thrones. Is this new RPG entry is poised to shake up Zynga’s game line-up?

A brief breakdown of Zynga’s current player base and a closer look at its recent RPG ventures. With the exception of the decade-old “Empires & Allies,” most RPG titles have followed the match-3 (M3) game mechanics (Puzzle Combat: Match-3 RPG, Empires & Puzzles: Match-3 RPG, and Harry Potter: puzzles & spells).

This begs the question:

Will the new Game of Thrones game adopt the same mechanics, or can we expect innovative gameplay and a departure from the M3 archetype?

Will they build upon their established M3 success and simply incorporate Game of Thrones characters, or are they poised to redefine the RPG genre? OR will they potentially explore a merge mechanics vs M3

Is this Game of Thrones “RPG” truly the most anticipated game in Zynga’s pipeline?

Somewhere along the way, it seems that Zynga may have lost its spot on my soft launch watchlist. While the allure of a beloved IP like Game of Thrones holds promise, there’s an underlying yearning for Zynga to rekindle the spark that once set it apart in the gaming industry.

With curiosity,
